CIMA is the world's largest professional body of management accountants. CIMA offers the most relevant finance qualification for business.

Most accounting qualifications train people for private practice, working on external audit and tax issues.

CIMA prepares people for a career in business. It teaches skills for strategic advice, managing risk and making key decisions.

CIMA syllabus is designed to deliver a strong understanding of all aspects of business and thus CIMA members can contribute in many areas of an organisation.
CIMA has more than 180,000 students and members worldwide.

CIMA Focus
CIMA's main focus is on management of businesses, rather than summarizing and reporting financial performance. In other words, CIMA aims to make their members work 'behind the numbers' in contrast to financial reporting. In this way, surpassing the traditional accountancy boundaries such as taxation, auditing and financial reporting, CIMA teaches organisational & business management, project management, advanced management accounting, business strategy, risk management and the impact of taxation to businesses. As CIMA's focus is mainly towards teaching and qualifying individuals in business management, CIMA syllabus does not include Auditing or detailed taxation issues. Based on the same decision, CIMA recently withdrew its membership from the CCAB (Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies) of the UK. However, CIMA has not ceased its membership with the FRC (the Financial Reporting Council of the UK) and the IFAC (International Federation of Accountants). The qualification is more famous in the United Kingdom with about nearly 100,000 members and students. Apart from the UK, CIMA is famous in many countries such as Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New zealand as well as with in the Middle-East, Africa and the American region. The recent joint venture between CIMA and AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) to introduce the new CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant) designation has even widen the CIMA international reach.
