These qualifications will be valuable for newcomers and professionals operating in a range of industries.
They are designed to give two significant market advantages:

What you’ll gain
The individual certificates will give you skills in Shari'ah compliance and the complexities of the contracts that underpin this compliance.
You will also develop confidence in terminology and the knowledge that sets Islamic finance apart from conventional finance. 
Course modules and study method

The CIMA Certificates in Islamic Finance are self study, distance learning qualifications that allow you to progress at your own pace.
A taught option is available with some of CIMA’s partners. You can enrol directly through CIMA or one of CIMA's approved partners in your region. 

There are four certificates to choose from:
  • Certificate in Islamic Commercial Law
  • Certificate in Banking and Takaful
  • Certificate in Islamic Capital markets and Instruments
  • Certificate in Accounting for Islamic financial Institutions.
Each has a detailed study guide which includes all the support you need to complete the final assessments. 

Each study guide offers:
  • a comprehensive syllabus
  • step-by-step subject coverage directly linked to specific learning outcomes
  • fusion between theory and practice
  • chapter summaries
  • a user-friendly glossary of Islamic finance terms
  • extensive question practice
  • revision sections for each chapter
  • a full length mock examination at the end of each guide
  • the possibility of completing all four assessments in two to six months, depending on your prior knowledge and experience.
Final assessments

You must pass a computer based final assessment to gain each of the four certificates. Each assessment has between 40 and 50 multiple choice questions. The pass mark for each certificate is 65%.

The assessments can be taken at CIMA-accredited assessment centres around the world. 
Study material updates

CIMA updates their study materials regularly to reflect the changing environment of Islamic finance. Once you are a registered certificate student you can access this information through your MY CIMA account.

New information will be assessable after being posted online for two months.

Welcome to the CIMA Diploma in Islamic Finance ...
This upgraded qualification assumes little or no prior knowledge of Islamic finance.

The qualification has been designed for those who wish to begin a career in Islamic finance, or those who are already working in Islamic finance, but need a recognised qualification or for others who are keen to learn more about this area.

The qualification is a self study, distance learning qualification that you can study at your own pace. The qualification comprises of all four certificates.

Once students have completed the diploma, they are eligible to enrol for the CIMA advanced diploma in Islamic finance.

Who is it for?
  • those who wish to begin a career in Islamic finance or wish to develop their knowledge for their current job role
  • those who have an interest in Islamic finance
  • companies who wish to develop their staff in the principles of Islamic finance to increase staff performance.
What will you gain?
  • understanding of Shari’ah compliance and the requirements and regulations which form the foundation of Islamic finance
  • understanding of the Arabic terminology used in Islamic finance
  • the ability to progress onto the CIMA advanced diploma in Islamic finance.

CIMA Advanced Diploma in Islamic Finance ...



This new qualification assumes extensive prior knowledge of Islamic finance through qualifications you already have, or your own career experience to date.
The qualification was named as the "Most outstanding Islamic training module" at the KLIFF Islamic Finance Awards 2011.

The qualification has been designed to further your understanding and application of Islamic finance principles to real life situations, increasing your confidence in this area of finance.

This self study, distance learning qualification allows you to study at your own pace, with electronic assessments taking place bi monthly. Assessment is through a case study examination allowing you to apply the principles studied within a real life situation.

Who is it for?
  • those who have completed the diploma in Islamic finance (previously known as the certificate in Islamic finance - Cert IF)
  • those who have not completed the Cert IF, but have extensive knowledge of Islamic finance and wish to develop their ability to apply the knowledge to the creation of Islamic finance products and services in line with current structures and strategies
  • companies who wish to develop their staff who are currently working in or have a good knowledge of Islamic finance to improve the expertise of their staff.

How to enrol

There are two ways of enrolling on the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Islamic finance: 
  • successful completion of the CIMA diploma in Islamic finance (or those who successfully completed the Cert IF)
  • by direct entry on completion of a gateway exam (GBP150).
